The Chinese dairy industry is currently recognised as the world's fastest growing dairy sector.

Consumption has increased at an average annual growth rate of 23percent since 1999, and is expected to grow from current levels of rawmilk availability of 18 kg per capita to an average of 30 kg by 2015. However availability on a per capita basis still significantly lags behind other Asian nations including Japan (65 kg), Korea (48 kg) and Taiwan (56 kg), and the current world average of 96 kg.
